ALCAT Intolerance Testing-100 foods (code 3302)

Digestive issues? Reactions to chemicals, medications or foods? Skin concerns? Feeling tired? Trouble losing weight?

You may be suffering from intolerances to foods, chemicals, medications or herbal remedies that are perpetuating the problem. Find out what your triggers are with a simple blood test, with no need to expose yourself to foods beforehand and you can continue to take your nutritional supplements as per normal (but on the day of testing take 3 hours post blood draw). All ages may be eligible for this test: we have had babies as young as 6 months have the ALCAT test with excellent results.

The ALCAT (antigen leukocyte cellular antibody test) measures personalised nutrition at the cellular level. The core technology is a blood test that measures the body’s cellular response to challenges from a wide array of substances including various foods, additives, colouring, chemicals, functional foods and medicinal herbs. The individual’s cellular reactivity after exposure of the blood to the various test agents, versus the person’s own baseline control, tells the healthcare provider which substances may be causing a sensitivity related response in the body.

A tremendous amount of health problems have been linked to food sensitivity and chronic inflammation – common everyday problems like migraines, aching joints, fatigue, gastrointestinal disorders, eczema, hyperactivity/ADD, asthma and even obesity.

The ALCAT test is a simple blood test that can be used to identify food and other factors that induce innate immune system activation. It measures changes in size and volume of white blood cells in response to ex vivo challenges with foods, chemicals and other environmental stimuli.

The advantage of the ALCAT involves the identification of specific foods and/or substances that are triggering an inflammatory cascade. The identification of these specific foods works synergistically with the thesis that gut health is one of the primary and crucial organs responsible for chronic inflammatory states, whereby the etiology of the vast majority of chronic inflammatory or autoimmune conditions can be traced back through a series of mechanisms to delayed food hypersensitivity via impaired intestinal permeability (so called ‘leaky gut’). If you would like to investigate conducting a leaky gut test, this specific test can be found in this shop section as well.

The blood draws for this test can only be done at a specific laboratory, and by appointment only. There is an additional charge that can vary depending on your location and the laboratory being used. You can call Nutrisearch (the test provider) on 0800 88 44 33 for a quote on the cost. You will receive instructions on how to complete the blood draw when you receive the testing kit.
